A Basket of Quilled Flowers

After making many flowers from paper strips of various colors, I finally settled with two models: a purple flower and an orange one.

When I first started working on this quilled painting, I had a totally different image in my head of what the outcome would be, but in the end it turned out to be a basket of flowers.
This is what I like so much about quilling: I never know how the final result is going to look like and I can always adjust on the way.

The total size of the painting is 8″ x 8″ (20cm x 20cm) and the inside of the frame is 6 5/16″ x 6 5/16″ (16cm x 16cm). For the leaves and the purple flowers I used 120g/sm paper hand-cut into 5/64″ (2mm) and for the orange flowers 160g/sm paper hand-cut into 5/62″ (2mm).

Hi, I came across your blog while I was visiting Dr. Sonia’s . You do make great quilled projects. This basket is lovely and so are the flowers in it. The buds look really dainty. I am a follower now and would love it if you follow me too.

    Happy quilling,
