Daisy Field under a Sunny, Blue Sky
A few weeks ago I receveid a special order: I was asked to create one quilled painting for a psychotherapy and counselling clinic. The person who requested this wanted a bright and cheerful picture.
With no other details, I embarked on my creational journey with my fingers crossed and a little bit nervous.
After one week I had nothing… just a bunch of quilled flowers in random patters, sizes and colors. Why do creational block sets in in the worst possible moment?!
I decided to take a break and leave all my paper strips behind at least for the week-end. Since the weather was so beautiful on that Sunday, my boyfriend and I went for a walk in the park. On our way, we passed by a flower shop and there I saw the most beautiful bouquet of daisies! At that point I knew my project will revolve around these happy, white flowers. Next week I did a little bit of research on colors and how they can affect ones mood, considering the fact that my painting will be hanged in a clinic. I know this could sound a little bit too thorough, but I simply needed more inspiration, plus I always like learning new things.
So, according to http://psychology.about.com, here are a few positive effects different colors can have on people:
*Blue
- calls to mind feelings of calmness or serenity. It is often described as peaceful, tranquil, secure, and orderly;
- can also lower the pulse rate and body temperature.
*White
- represents purity or innocence;
- can create a sense of space or add highlights.
*Yellow
- is a bright color that is often described as cheery and warm.
*Green
- is a cool color that symbolizes nature and the natural world;
- is thought to relieve stress and help heal;
- is often used in decorating for its calming effect.
After reading all these, I already had the image of the quilled painting in my head: a field of daisies under a sunny blue sky.
And this is the end result, I hope you like it!

Initially, I didn’t plan to make any insect, but I felt the picture was too static and I decided to add a little bee. This fluffy bee was created using this easy-to-follow tutorial by Lora.34.
I haven’t showed this yet to the person who requested it, so she will see it here for the first time. I hope you’ll like it, Irina!

Oh what an amazing creation. It is true about the colours affecting the mind.Most hospitals choose blue or pink as scientific research shows it is calming and soothing. In fact we have designed our own ENT clinic in light blue and white paint.
What a mind blowing creation!

You are a true artist. By researching subject matter AND the effects of colour on mood you exhibited compassion for the viewer. Your finished work is exquisite and the fluffy bee is quite adorable. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
