Back to the Basics I – Quilled Little Yellow Flowers

by ManuK on June 27th, 2012

Whenever I’m working on a large project (read large as in time consuming, because size has nothing to do with how much time I invest in a project), I like to take little breaks. And because I don’t want to stay away from quilling, I started a series of 12/12cm pictures, which I named ‘Back to the Basics’. Simple designs, basic quilling shapes, experiments with different colors.

So here is the first one ‘Quilled Little Yellow Flowers’:

A bright quilled painting with bold colors on a white background. It all started with some tight coils, so there you have it, your basic shape for this project!

I’ve always liked Claire‘s handmade ‘canvas’, so I decided to give it a go and see how they would work. And I’m loving them! Here you have a nice tutorial if you want to try them, too.

I am planning on making many of these 12/12 canvas and then put them together in a collage of pretty colors and flowers.

For the flowers and the leaves I used 80g/sm sheets of paper, hand cut into 2mm paper strips. The canvas was made of 160g/sm cardboard.

Until next time, happy quilling!

Manuela

SO true Manu! I think I am all inspired to get back there too! It’s fun to do simple projects :) SUch a pretty design anyway, I don’t think you ever make anything basic! This speaks of exquisiteness :)
