Quilled Flower Arrangement in Pink and Yellow

Quick post with a simple quilled flower arrangement which I did in both pink and yellow.

Simple Quilled Flower Arrangement in Pink and Yellow

I initially had to make a few greeting cards, but because I ended up adding too many flowers and leaves, I decided to glue them on a thick piece of cardboard and maybe frame them. They were sitting like that on my desk for a few days, when I came up with the idea to mount a little support on the back to hold the weight of the cardboard and of the quilled elements.

The size of each quilled painting is 10cm * 15cm. I used hand cut 2mm wide paper strips, 120gsm. Only the butterflies are made of 1.5 wide strips.

Multumesc mult, Cris! Ideea era sa fac cateva modele simple si rapide, dar tot imi ia cateva ore bune sa termin o lucrare. Cred ca pur si simplu nu exista ideea de “rapid” cand vine vorba de quilling! 😀

Manu, the flowers are so pretty -the shape of the petals, the colours. But the leaves just did not work for me. Sorry. They’re too dark and compared to your earlier work, not as realistic. I’m saying this openly only because I admire your work immensely and you’re such a fabulous quiller. Just my opinion which you can take or leave. Love, Natasha

Natasha, thank you very much for your comment, I appreciate an honest feedback! Let me try and explain a little bit the idea behind these quilled paintings. I wanted to make a relatively simple and easy design that would fit on a 10cm*15cm surface, instead of trying to recreate a real flower with leaves, like I usually do with my frames, because it takes too much time. These are more like greeting cards and I must confess I still struggle with them 🙂

I have a few more ideas for these tiny canvases, I hope you’ll like those!

Multumesc mult, Bianca! Din pacate nu am reusit sa surprind foarte bine culorile in poze, in realitate rozul este mai aprins. 🙂 Ma bucur ca ti-au placut!

Thank you very much, Pritesh! Though I really wonder if there is such thing as simple when it comes to quilling. I wanted some easy-and-fast to make cards, but I still had to spend a few good hours working on these frames.

This is very pretty..looks simple & awesome..
In your other works, you used shoe box as frame..Do you buy it or make it your selves?

Thank you, Nagamani! I either make my own paper frames or buy shadowbox frames that are made from fiberboard and have a glass front protection. I have never used shoe boxes…

These are lovely Manu… thanks for sharing. Sometimes the simple ideas really stand out, as do these, and adding the stand to enable them to stay so simple (ie without frames) was very inspired I think!
    Best wishes from Sydney, Australia
