Panels with Quilled Gerbera Flowers and a White Butterfly.
I am back with the first custom orders I got for this year, panels with quilled gerbera flowers.
I was given free hand to choose some red flowers and create a frame. A bouquet of gerberas was the first photo that popped up in my google search, so it wasn’t very hard to decide what to make. 🙂 I also wanted to add a little insect and I felt like something white will create a nice contrast, hence the butterfly. I know I used it before in my cherry plum blossom project, but I am simply not good at making butterflies and this is the only one that I am happy with because it resembles the real version.
While working on the first panel, someone really liked the gerbera I posted on my Facebook page and I was asked to make one more frame. I tried not to make them both the same, so I changed the arrangement of the flowers and glued the blades of grass differently.
The size of each panel is 18cm * 24cm. The quilled gerbera flowers are made of 2mm wide paper strips and they measure approx. 6.5cm in diameter. For each flower I used around 60-64 paper strips and boy!, cutting them proved to be a real adventure!
Can’t wait for the Spring to come! There are -13 degrees Celsius in Bucharest right now. Brrr!!! Stay warm everyone! 🙂
Thank you for your visit!
