Summer Mood – Floral Tile IV

Summer Mood – Floral Tile IV.

Long time no post! I am continuing with my series of densely packed floral tiles, this time with something appropriate for the season  – summer mood with daisies and a tiny sunflower.

These are definitely the most time consuming of all the flowers I’ve made so far. I ended up spending over four hours just to roll and shape the petals for the sunflower. I guess this is what one would call “time well spent”. 🙂

The size of the tile is 12cm x 12cm or 9″ x 9″. The sunflower measures around 8cm in diameter. Once mounted on a 23cm x 23cm cardboard, it will fit perfectly into the square shadowbox frame from Ikea. I currently have some of the tiles placed on small easels all over my house and they look great just like that. I’ve been asked many times if I frame all of my projects (because there is concern that dust will set and then cleaning will prove a little bit difficult) and from where I buy the deep frames. I do have some pieces for display which have never been framed and even if they have been exposed for years, still look ok. From time to time I use a soft brush to remove any dust particles and that’s pretty much it. In the end, it’s all up to your personal preference.
