Flowers for Cancer – Paper Quilling Magnolia and Plumbago Wall Art
Time for the newest project from my Zodiac Collection dedicated to my own zodiac sign. Yay! This was probably the easiest one to make so far. Blue is my favorite color and I also love magnolias, so everything came together pretty natural. Therefore here it is, my little framed wall art with flowers for Cancer.
This artwork is dedicated to the sentimental and imaginative Cancer. Having a pure white magnolia in the middle, it reflects the sincere core of Cancerians. The blue plumbago flowers, associated with the loyal and sympathetic personality of the Crabs, gently border the southern magnolia with a characteristic sense of protection and support.
A few technical details about this piece:
When I make the delicate petals for the flowers, I use high quality acid-free paper cut into 1 mm wide paper strips. In order to create lifelike leaves, I like to work with a special type of handmade paper. But, most importantly, I stem each flower and leaf with floral wire to create a rich 3D effect. Finally, I set the whole floral arrangement in a white shadowbox frame, measuring 15 x 20 x 3.5 cm (6” x 8” x 1 3/8”). A sheet of organic glass encloses the frame to protect the flowers from dust.
